Can anyone advise if my 2013 Pajero GLX R can be retrofitted with an infotainment unit, ie radio/stereo/satnav?

It sure can. There are many threads on here to search. Really not too complicated. Depends if you want to DIY or not?
1st step is to get a new surround so you can fit a standard double DIN unit. Budget about $450 plus to get an Apple CarPlay or Android Auto capable unit. Of course you can spend almost any amount but that is a base starting price.

Upgraded Speakers. Rear USB outlet. Factory nudge bar with LED light bar. Provent catch can. LED interior lights.

I replaced the head unit in my 2015 NX which i hated, with a Polaris Toyota Luxx head unit. Not perfect but very happy. (I didn't want Android auto, which I think is a waste of space). Didn't need a new facia. Install is a bit tricky, spacewise, with all the extra interface looms required. I run Oziexplorer.

FYI in my 2014 NW GLX-R, the only loom purchase I made was a $20 Mitsubishi to ISO adaptor set. I used this so I could just plug into the vehicle without cutting any wires. I just cut the ISO plug off the adaptor and hard wired that to the plug of the Pioneer unit I have. Steering wheel controls and stock rear camera all still work. (those just took a few more connections outside of what the main loom provides)
