I use an Albright solinoid, and have wired the warn plug to that, with the earth on the control plug having a switch in the cab. I think it was the brown wire.

2008 NS Diesel Auto - stock as a rock. Planning Tow bar, dual battery system, cargo barrier, bullbar, winch, lights, roof rack and suspension.
Jayco Starcraft 17.58-3.
If you have room under the bonnet then you could mount the solenoid control box under the bonnet and extend the power and earth leads from the solenoids to the winch. This way there are not cables that are continually live behind the bull bar. Much safer in an accident or roo strike, easy to use and service because the control box is higher and cleaner than with a traditional bar mount.
cheers, old Jack.
