12v to 7.5v [Slightly Off Topic]

Apologies in advance for asking a more general question. I'd like to convert the 12v - 13.8v output from the accessory plug in the centre console of my NP to 7.5v so that I can power a digital camera for extended periods (time lapse photography etc). Any ideas as to how to accomplish that or pointers to a suitable circuit diagram? I could do it using an inverter to power the AC adapter, but it seems silly to upscale 12v DC to 240v AC simply to downscale it to 7.5 DC. I'm aware that I'll have to careful of surges, but I'm unlikely to be powering the camera whilst the engine is running.

    Thanks
