rear wheel bearings np nm

Hi All
Has anyone carried out a service check of the rear wheel bearings
for an NM or NP. The manual asks to inspect bearings ever 45,000 km, The workshop manual dosen't mention it. What's involved ? can it be done
without special tools.

Jack it up and try and wobble the tyre (in various directions) - if it wobbles your in trouble.

I think that they are actually an unservicable sealed hub assembly like the fronts. Never had a spot of bother with those on my NM in 175,000km. Cant say the same for the fronts though that was a known issue.

A check for run-out and a spin for noise should be all that is required.

My fronts need replacing at 90k service. Heaps of wobble apparently. Bummer,.

Early front ones are well known to fail. But yours is a later NP - they were supposed to have a slightly revised hub by then?
