  • Rim / Tyre Sizes for Sand

    Gidday,

I have an NH Pajero (LWB) and I?m currently running a set of all terrain Hankooks on the standard 15? alloy rims (265/70 R15).

Anyway I was thinking of getting a 2nd set of bigger rims and tyres for the sand.

    My logic being
    - Wider tyres would mean I could travel on softer sand (as the car would have a bigger footprint).
    - Larger diameter would mean I get lower rolling resistance and a (very) small lift, which are both good things for sand.
    - And perhaps I could get a tread pattern ideal for sand driving

    Questions are:

How much bigger (width and diameter) can I go practically and legally (in QLD)?

And are there any specific wheel and tyre recommendations along these lines?

    Cheers,

    Scott
