  • 2010 ASX Diesel coolant change/flush

Want to flush and change coolant on 4N1 diesel. Manual says to remove exhaust and Cat to get to block coolant drain plug.

Any way around this eg just removing certain hoses? Seems like a lot of work otherwise.

Anyone actually changed coolant on the diesel?

    Thanks

Its so much work to remove that plug. How i do it is do drain radiator, refill with water and flush with a hose.

Run engine for a couple of minutes to circulate

Then drain radiator again, leave plug open and run engine for a minute with bottom hose off.

Then refill with fresh coolant. You will not get in the full amount, but it will be sufficient.

Stupid place to put a drain point.

I am not sure where the heater hoses are but have a look where they go to, you may be able to disconnect one and put the hose in there to back flush the block and the heater core.
