How does H-M-S suspension work??

That is the settings for the adjustable factory fitted shokers on top of range gls models. H=hard M = Medium S= soft for a car ride i would think.. Mine had them fitted but 2 opposite corners were leaking and it was mega bucks to replace them as nobody repairs them they all ended up in bin and monroe gas were fitted all round and switch just looks pretty now on dash..
These particular shokers are electrically operated and think are air adjusted by this..

Sound a bit like air lift shocks people fit to compensate for weight in the back of the vehicle. Not near as effective as polyair or airbag at load capacity.
