    Hi all
    need a little help on resetting the timing belt tensioner seems to spring loaded is there a trick to getting it to move back in so that i can get my belt back on

    Excluding the fact you dont mention wat car, motor or anything you have, its most likely a hydraulic tensioner - if its the 100 service job you could prolly get away with reusing it, if its 200 it may pay to replace it. All the same, remove the tensioner and slowly compress it with a vice, clamp or the likes of. There is a pin hole in the shaft, and when the tensioners all the way back, the hole will align with a hole in the housing - you need to put a pin in it. The rest is history and you'll prolly work it out, although the tighter you get the belt before you release the tenstioner the better.
