Need information about LSD

Hey guys,
can anyone tell me if a LSD should make a knocking sound and have free play when both wheels are jacked up off the ground, and spin the rear wheels back & forward?
Can anyone check for me please?

there should,nt be any knocking sounds atall. have a look at the tailshaft uni joints as maybe the rear one has excessive free play which is causing this knock sound.
