Diff Lock

Hey all,

I drive a 99 NL Exceed and have the following question. Could someone please exaplin how in 4wd the centre diff lock works and what it does. i know it "provides" more traction when in 4LLC, but i would like to know the technacalities..

when not engaged its more like an all wheel drive but when locked will lock into providing a 50/50 split to front and rear axles of drive no matter what so that one axle can be bogged spinning and the other axle will turn theoretically at the same rate. It works like a traction lock or limited slip diff for a transfer case.
