  • NJ Towbar

    Hello there,
Well I finally made it. I took delivery of my 1994 NJ GLS LWB today and I just love it. No I'm not going to sleep in it tonight.
This vehicle has no towbar but I noticed a towing point at the rear below the step. Can this be converted using a goose neck?
If not how much is a towbar and where might I get one.

Im not sure where the change occoured, possibly its a capacity based thing, but there was a standard towbar that attached to that tow point, not sure of its rating etc but many around and for many years.

My NJ when I got it had the option of a light and heavy duty towbar.

The light duty (about 1200kg from memory) bolted to the recovery point as you suggest.

The heavier tow bar (the one I got 2500kg capacity) replaces the recovery point and provides a 'hayman reese' type coupling.

I would ask any of the tow bar providers around. Most will be able to supply the bar you need.

1500Kg actually. And it also allows the recovery point to be reattached on top of it.

Depending on brand, they all bolt up under the rear of the chassis rails into factory made threaded holes, and some also utilise the recovery mount point as well.
