  • Aussie truck tow mirror

Is anyone using Aussie truck towing mirrors on a Generation 2 Paj?

I tried them on my NL yesterday but didn't have much luck with the fitting.

The two hook parts that goes over the door into the window channel are a lot wider than the door strip. When the mirror strap was all tightened up it still has a lot of play (3-4mm) in the window channel, which would allow the mirror to move back and forth. Also when the window goes up it fouls on the brackets.

Is there a trick to fitting them, or are they not suitable?

When I was retailing Trailer & Caravan parts, I wasn't (still not) a big fan of those mirrors, mainly due to the fact they clamp a gainst your weather strips. The best ones I found were the ORA brand www.oraproducts.com.au Their bracket can stay on your vehicles mirror while the mirror head and arm can be removed quickly and easily when not in use to prevent damage or theft.

The Coppa Rossa is also a pretty good mirror from the same company, but I'm not a huge fan of sticking something to my duco.

    Hope this helps.

    Yonnee.

That's interesting. I has always thought the door mirror attached units were OK around town, but pretty much hopeless when touring. Dint' these ones vibrate and fold the mirror in when a truck passes?

Yeah, it's a bit of a catch 22. Either jam something in your window weather strip, or mount it to the mirror and hope your mirror springs have some good tension.

But that's where the Coppa Rossa ones aren't too bad. They mount to the mirror and allow the head to be removable, but they have a stay that helps support the factory mirror.

BUT... I'm fairly sure the Coppa Rossa is only sold as a single, but the original ORA mirror is sold in pairs, and you can get a support arm to add to the original ORA.
