If its the same prob I had with my NM ( temp reads off the scale or very erratic) it will be the small circuit board behind the dash. This appears to be fairly common. cost was about $300 2yrs ago. Be careful getting the dash out or you will break the clips down the bottom.. good luck

          Hi,

My 2002 DiD is showing the same signs, had thought the alternator may be the fault...can anyone advise is 14.5V at idle normal for this model, I've had conflicting reports from mechanics.

Also any advise on the exact location of the board would be appreciated

          Thanks

            Hi
Defiantly the guauge. Just take the whole instrument cluster to an instrument repairer. Much cheaper than a new guauge. I experianced the same problem Stan

              Tukuyal.
there is a voltage regulator mounted on a small circuit board assembly behind the dash. This regulates the voltage to a constant 5 Volts (or thereabouts, cant remember exactly) so you will have a constant voltage rail regardless of battery / alternator. There was also a thread on the old forum about this but not sure how you would find it .
              cheers

The new part is about $400, and taking it to a speedo/cluster repairer is about $80!
