  • AFTERMARKET WHEEL BEARINGS [Front ]

just for the mention i have been informed by a wheel bearing specialist that the NL front wheel bearings are the same as the NM bearings. genuine mits NM bearings are approx $450. where as the aftermarket type bearings are only $45 per side, this is for fronts only as you must go genuine for rear bearings.

Hows that? i thought the hub assemblies were completely different, one is traditional style with a cone in the hub, nut to torque it up etc etc, and the other is pressed in and apart of the hub so to speak?

i was told by this specialist that the 2000 model NM have the exact same front hub / bearing set up as the 2000 NL [ last of the older shape pajeros. if you have a 2001 NM then you will have to pay the $450.

The "specialist" sure sounds like a winner!

NL pajero has tapered wheel bearings.. cheap!

NM (all NM's) has sealed unit, hub and all... NOT cheap!

I have an early 2000 build date NM - looked it up once and I think it was the first month of production (somewhere around April-June timeframe). If someone posts a picture of an NL hub with the wheel off, I'll tell you if it looks like my NM!

Just had a look in Repco parts catalogue and doesnt list any different bearings in the NL series. One set does all for the NL (SKF WBK 1136) according to Repco. No rear bearings listed,

Pickle, does the repco chart mention anything about the NM 2000 model front bearings being the same as the NL 2000 ?

Doesn't list them at all for the NM ...so suggests to me they are different and you can only get the NM ones from Mitsu.

I think i can kinda understand wat has happened - as you just mentioned the nl didnt finish till 2000, likewise the nm didnt start till 2000... i think wat he may have meant to say was the first of the 2000 models still has the same hub assembly as any other nl???
