  • Gawd it's cold in Ballarat!

How old is it here in Ballarat?? 11 degrees! I miss 28 at home!

    Lovely gardens though.

We spent 4 days towing the van down here, enjoying a great road trip.

The Paj handled our van beautifully, even with 40km sidewinds neat Yass. Thankfully the ESC kept the movement to an absolute minimum. But it could have been a bit hairy without it!

Fuel econ was excellent. 16 lph driving at 95 to 100 kmh. Went as high as 22lph on the hilly parts, but that was the overall average.

The Ultragauge read engine temp 88 to 106 degrees on the hills. Pretty cool Paj.

Awesome tow vehicle overall. Van is 2500kg. Great trip. Heading back home on Wed.

    Cheers
    Sally

Your not kidding! We're in Ballarat too and looking forward to going home to sunny Mount Gambier tomorrow...
The wind is what's really getting to me.
Had a good day today though, went to the Lerderderd national park. Really nice spot at O Brian's Crossing and got into low range on the Xl track. Pretty steep.
Which park are you staying at?
We're at the gold fields park. Really nice quiet caravan park.

Hi Sal, Haven't "spoken" for awhile have been away too. Went camping with good friends and he has a mighty Paj 2011 model with a van the same as yours. After reading your post and after talking (whilst away...as you do) we are a little concerned as per his weight of Jayco & towball weight. His O/B has tare of 2250kg. You state your van fully loaded with water tanks, batteries, food, clothing & gas bottles is only 2500kg giving you 250kg on ball. My friend states his van fully loaded was weighed at 2740kg!! He has only an allowance of 180kg with that weight....now he checking t/ball weight. Have you had yours checked & weighed at a weigh bridge when it is fully loaded to go away? ps Even Victorians don't go anywhere near Ballarat this time of the year. We wait til "Jack" has well and truly left. Regards Rob

We were in Ballarat in July and it was beautiful weather, a bit chillie but nothing too bad.

Agree about Sovereign Hill, kids wanted to go back for the second day but unfortunately we had other places to get too. Didn't see the night show either but they were doing Xmas in July the following day apparently with snow even.
            Cheers

              Hi guys,

              Still only 11at midday!

Staying in my in-laws driveway. Albert l wanted to see his mum for her 90th birthday, so hence the visit to Ballarat. Good excuse for a van/road trip.

I'm an ex Vic so went to Sovereign Hill a few times when we lived here. It's a good day out.

Rob, will PM you when I get home next week.

Looking forward to returning to some warmth!

              Cheers

We struck the same thing in Wagga this year. 8pm at night, 4 deg C and the locals are walking around in thongs and shorts.

                That isn't normal.

                Something wrong with those people.
