My NW Pajero has done 165klm. Recently it boiled after the alternator/fan belts broke. Repair was effected with new belts. Luckily no perceived engine damage occurred. Now, after about 900klm the alternator light illuminates on a cold start and then goes out after a few minutes. OK on a hot start. Belt tension has been checked and found OK. Correct belts have been fitted. Any suggestions please.

In order to replace the fan belts, the rear alternator mounting bolt has to be loosened, and subsequently re-tightened. Its position is, putting it mildy, a bastard. Itis likely that the wiring connections at the rear of the alternator may bave been disturbed when accessing this bastard bolt. Check the connecitons.
