Hi dragonjon
I know you posted this a couple of years back, but I have a problem similar to the one you described - broken diff lock detection switch.
Did you have to take the diff out to fix this in the end ? Wasn't there any way to fit the switch without dropping the diff ?

update what a nightmare
first switch was broken
mitsubishi fitted new switch and it did not work ( had faults coming on screen)
PS you have to remove diff to fit switch
now have had new switch fitted by diff specialist, mitsubishi pinched axle seal which then bled into left wheel bearing so i had to replace that as well AS CAN ONLY GET TO 1 SIDE
all up job has cost me $1940 and three different mechanics
im getting a new protection plate fitted over both diff switches on monday for $150
so this does not happen again::

Mitsubishi probably does not make the diff anyway. Obviously there has been an upgrade or modification for some reason since your diff was manufactured back in 2015. They need to find out who makes the diff and get the right part from them. If the vehicle is still under warranty it is Mitsubishi's problem. If they can't source the part, insist Mitsubishi replace the whole diff with the newer version.
9 weeks plus for a repair is probably grounds for a call to your local consumer affairs office and a letter to Mitsubishi.

Broken rear diff lock position switch
OK somehow i have broken my rear diff lock position switch my mechanic ordered one through mitsubishi sunny coast.
Anyway it comes into australia 9 weeks later, they fit new switch and rear diff would stay locked on WTF ?????
as it turns out new switch internal is 3mm longer than existing one so they call mitsubishi back and it is the only one listed for pajero sport.
Now we have had to reinstall broken switch until mitsubishi can tell us where to go from here !
2015 first release model gls sport
