  • Should I trade my 08 rodeo to a triton?

I have a 08 rodeo CR turbo diseasel LX dual cab

Its a good ute, low kms, good nick, drives verrrry well etc, but the pricing of the triton has us thinking...

I like how the Triton has heaps of safety stuff (6 airbags, ABS, stability control etc). But dont like (the reports of...) bad turbo lag etc due to small motor. The talk about the triton suspension doesnt phase me much as they are all shtye and I'd change the shocks over pretty quickly.

Our rodeo only has dual airbags and no ABS etc...

We have a 08 Pajero so are used the foibles of mitsubishi DiD (intake clogging, SCVs etc). I wouldnt trade the Pajero for a triton as it is all sorted and a good jigger!

Wondering how much of a step up it is?

(Thank you in advance for any opinions/info...)

My new Triton 4X4 is quite clunky changing gears
and MMA are trying to assure me that its normal
Spite what a specialist has found to be the problem

Also at the moment I find there warranty to be questionable

There are people who are happy so it could be said I have a dud

If I put mine in reverse than take off forward it makes a 'TINK' sound

Maybe I have higher standard's or it could be as simple as the number they claim they are selling and the factory's just cant cope

You cant get quality if there just churning them through, That's my opinion at the moment

The price is what got us as well, And its said many times they are good for the price, just another IMO

Your Expections may be too high as your Bus is still a Goody? My Bro has just bought a new Triton and Loves it, Got a Fantastic Deal too. Some of the Issues have been Fixed, e.g. Looms.

For every one person that gets on a forum and complains about a problem with any vehicle, there are probably another 100 who are perfectly happy.

Sure, the Triton has a bit of turbo lag. So does my new Pajero. But all these little quirks are relatively easily fixed and there are plenty of worse choices to be made than a Triton. A chip, some mods to fix the EGR and lag, suspension and some creature comforts to make you feel at home and the Triton is one heck of a good ute that has off road ability way beyond what it should have.

From the Rodeo you are talking apples and oranges. They're a full generation apart and while the Rodeo is a tough little truck, the Triton can be just as tough but streets ahead in comfort and features. If you have a Pajero you know the value of Super Select. All that and they're pretty good value at the moment.

I'm not JUST getting on a forum to complain

Like Hobbo states my bus is a goody. It's a NS and it's known DPF issues
I have since diagnosed the problem and it gets better all the time

I don't see how my comments are not appropriate for buying a new car

Stick with the Rodeo IMHO. One of the better models before the Colorado started to be built in Thailand. I know of a few blokes with them, and they love them. I wouldnt be selling just cos another vehicle has a good price on it.
                Triton is ugly IMHO.

Dunno, a mate just bought one the same as mine without a canopy for $19k. So maybe thats what theyre worth? (his has more kms, shyte tyres, and no canopy!)

If I was wanting to fire sale it to get into a triton id be happy with something like $17k

I'll stick an ad up an guage the interest - that might make up my mind for me!

1 in 100? Most people would consider those fairly long odds. However, I don't take offence. With ownership of two Tritons over an 8 year period and well north of 5000 various forum posts Triton related I'd say my reputation is fairly safe.

I don't believe that anyone was suggesting that you were. Certainly not I. If you refer back to OP's post you'll notice that he said:

Fascinating. I thought you were talking about a Triton.

Again, no-one said anything about your comments being inappropriate. One could question relevance to the original question but, hey. I'm not here to make judgements.

Why would you want to replace something that you know is good with something that is cheap?
