Thanks, always good to get reasoned first-hand knowledge.
Many years ago, I had a Lite Ace van with the venerable 1800cc. Toyota petrol motor. The thing rattled and pinged under ordinary loads, till one day I had a light bulb moment and changed...

Is Oils ....OILS?
Just wondering what members thoughts are about Gulf Western oil.
Have always used Penrite, but this crowd claim to be totally Australian as well and meet all certifications.
Can't understand the name tho', 'Gulf+Western' was a huge American...

Wow!! Seems like a lot of work.
I'm getting too old to be lying under a car for hours.
There are 'channels' running from the foot well on either side of the cabin, thru' to the wheel arch covering behind the second row seats.
There...

You would think it would be wear.
As previously, the pin in mine was not jammed in under huge pressure, as tho' nothing had changed.
But because of the huge torque, I guess even the slightest wear allows for that tiny bit of take-up.

Could not agree more.
We have a single axle full van with 190l fridge, 200l water (not always full), shower, etc.etc. Weight is usually around 2200kgs. and ball weight of about 170kg. King springs and air bags and no WDH.
Never had a problem....

Thanks, you reminded me that when the car was recalled a few years ago, was told by MM that the chain guide assembly was improved.
When I checked out this business their blog had a few examples of 'interesting' jobs they have had over the years,...

Having valves adjusted shortly by a very reputable shop directly opposite Transport office, North Brisbane.
Quoted $490, asked for manifold clean as well, another $300.
Have to see what condition the chain guide is in also.

Clunk in drive-line
Finally had a win!
Have had a slight clunk in my Auto NW when moving off, forward or reverse, and if coasting down a slight hill with no load, clunk occurred when accelerating again.
Armed with sage advice from this forum, I approached my...

I replaced rear springs with normal ride-height Kings at 150,000 and the insulators were history.
Replaced with Poly insulators despite all 'horror stories' about noise etc. and certainly glad I did.
Ride is great with/without caravan, and...

As I understand it, in fly-by-wire the pedal is connected to a transducer, or potentiometer, (I ain't no technician), so that as the pedal is pushed in there is a corresponding increase in the voltage induced and sent to the ECU and accordingly, more...

Been down that road (no pun intended), actual weight of un-loaded new van was 180kg. over what was stated on the plate.
Got it re-rated by a certified engineer for another 250kg. New plate and up-dated with Transport.
Was stuffed without...Last edited by gas55; 3 weeks ago.

Absolutely spot on. What I said to the dealer when I got mine.
Works ok. but still hits my handbrake on the caravan if coupled.
Some genius in Japan thought "Ha! Why they put spare wheel off centre"?
