You have the centre diff which is literally a normal diff in the tfc, off the back of that you then have the output shaft, the bearing for this sits right next to the centre diff, the spline then overhangs by some 100mm or something, then at the end...

There is rear output shaft bearing, but this has no effect nor contact with the tailshaft, the slip joint where the shaft goes into the extension housing has a bush in there - you cant buy the bush on its own, you can still get the extension housing...

Ive had the same as what youve got from racv once before - i think they are fairly cheap, overpriced and crap. Fairly dear considering it was free fitting, and it only lasted 3 years...

At 600 buks EACH - i were selling it and needed to put shockers on it to pass a roadworthy, i'd prolly just stick normal shocks in it, but that might be just me. Directly ontop of the shocks you'll see where the connector plugs into, is it plugged in?...

In the some of the manuals i have read, they refer to it as a viscous, but too look at the technical drawings, it looks just like a normal mechanical diff... what ever all that means...

DO nothing, there is no problem, your car doesnt overheat, reaches operating temp as you would expect, autos have had this feature since the 80's - all is normal.

Fairly common thing with mitsubishi in general as the k's begin to get up. What oil are you using atm? It would be worth running a bottle of lifter cleaner through it - but the proper stuff that generally only trade can get, 10 - 15 buks from memory....

Where do you get 45 from? Feel how hot your tires get after some driving - at a minimum, you can safely run mid - low 20's without anything in the back, that is if you want your car to feel like a boat, like wise, if you want it to feel like there is...

If your talking NL - then i dont think so, the petrol will return the same, if not better economy on a trip, and around town there will be little difference between the two, the petrol makes more torque then the diesel, and effectively from the same...

by 6G74So im told, you run the risk of cracking the crank using that technique, the only reason a mechanic should be doing it is because of lack of tools or know how... There are torque multiplying breaker bars specific for the job, in a lot of cases there...

Reply to NM/NP Rear Differential Lockby 6G74I have a nj - so my manual doesnt help... But it does talk about optional seat heaters, mirror heaters, mirror retractors, and lsd / difflock combination for the rear.... non of which were avaliable in aus.
As far as i know, NL (2000)...-

Reply to Engine Conversionby 6G74Still doesnt suit the 3ltr gearbox - and it wont be reliably strong enough. Mitsy wouldnt have gone to the trouble of making the diffs bigger, transfer case bigger, gear box bigger, and then having to lift the body to fit it all under to suit the 3.5...

Reply to noisy liftersby 6G74I've used a simular product, Nulon lifter free. To some degree it helped, but far from resolved the issue.
Within reason, theres only 2 reasons for lifter noise, mechanical wear and tear / failure and sludge / wax build up.

Reply to Fitting diff breathersby 6G74Ive done the tfc / gearbox breather on mine, it was so simple its not funny. The standard breather is shared between the tfc and box, it runs up to the top of the bell housing on the drivers side and bolts to a bracket in between the motor and the gearbox....

Reply to NL MAF Sensorby 6G74I've seen air flow metres die within days after being cleaned... I cleaned mine with carby cleaner some 2 years ago, no problems yet, better economy, got rid of the surging down low etc. If you think oil or dust is coming through, change it.
